CLARK, NJ- How does it feel to sink 1,000 varsity basketball points? Arthur L. Johnson High School senior Stephanie Visconti found out when she achieved that milestone a little over a week ago, in a 49-46 win over the Governor Livingston (Berkeley Heights) Highlanders. The milestone was one that Visconti powered toward throughout the season.
“I had a lot of things going through my head,” Visconti said. “I was so excited because finally, after four years, it paid off, and I got my 1,000th point. Also, it put us up by two points against Governor Livingston.”
Describing the moment as one of the greatest in her time on the team, Visconti sank the 1,000th point on a fourth quarter free throw. Play stopped temporarily for a celebration with her teammates on the court. Visconti was awarded a commemorative basketball and plaque to recognize her accomplishment.
