CLARK, NJ – Arthur L. Johnson High School junior Shannon Brogan joined the long list of 2015-2016 milestone athletes when she recorded her 100th varsity softball career hit in a 4-2 victory over Bordentown High School during Tuesday’s NJSIAA Central, Group 2 semifinal game.
“After the game, I couldn’t believe it. All my work has finally paid off,” Brogan said. “It was a really good feeling. When I hit the ball, I didn’t realize it was my 100th hit. I realized it afterwards, but I think that’s how you have to go about it.”
Brogan secured the milestone with a leadoff double in the top of the sixth inning during a critical moment in a crucial game. The hit set up the team to take the lead, and ultimately the win.
She added to her remarkable week by recording the game-winning RBI single in the Central, Group 2 State Sectional Final against Voorhees High School in a 6-2 victory just two days later.
