New Providence Lacrosse Star Tyler Lawton Signs to Play at Syracuse University

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Last Wednesday afternoon was a special day for the New Providence Pioneers High School boys varsity lacrosse team when senior Tyler Lawton signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division-I Men’s Lacrosse at Syracuse University.

With his family, teammates, assistant coach Michael Criscitello, athletic director Vincent Carangelo, and school administrators present, he signed on to set up the next stage of his lacrosse career.

Lawton’s versatility, assertiveness and overall play making ability were recognized early by recruiters and he committed to play for the Orangemen his freshman year. “When I visited during my freshman year, way before I even began playing high school lacrosse, it was one of those schools that I really felt comfortable going there,” Lawton said. “The coaches were great, the academics were great [and] I really like the area.”

“I loved the campus,” Lawton said of his visit. “The academic facilities were insane. The academic help with the athletes was great. They have two clubhouses, so you can always play indoors and the Carrier Dome, where they play, is awesome.”
