Johnson Crusaders Field Hockey Looking to Build Upon Last Year’s Season

CLARK, NJ- Last season, the Arthur L. Johnson High School varsity field hockey team stood one goal away from a trip to the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 sectional final and came up short, losing in double overtime. Although the team lost that game, they are optimistic about the upcoming season.

They began their preseason on Wednesday, August 16 on the turf, working through the blistering heat and humidity on a variety of stick work, ball control, passing drills and conditioning.

Head coach Katrina Poskay begins her 18th season at the helm of the Crusaders field hockey team. Joining her staff include Allison Severage-Caamano, Jen Goldberg and Amanda Wnorowski (all ALJ graduates) and Andrea Ascolese.

“It’s really exciting to have the experience that we’re going to have on the field this year. It’s been a long time since we’ve had that,” Poskay said. “We have excellent leadership and we have a lot of skilled players.”

This year’s team is led by senior captains Amy Wysocki, Jessica Lopez and Emma Francisco, along with Shelby Lynes and Danielle Nugent. The 2017 season marks Wysocki’s second season as a co-captain of the team.
