Johnson Crusaders Field Hockey Defeats Point Pleasant Boro Panthers; Advance to NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 Semifinals

CLARK, NJ –  The Arthur L. Johnson High School Crusaders varsity field hockey team had struggled in recent years to get past the quarterfinals of the state tournament, but 2016 was different.  This year, the team battled to ensure this would not be the case, and they got the job done.

The No. 4 seeded Crusaders defeated the No. 5 seeded Point Pleasant Boro Panthers Thursday afternoon in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 Quarterfinals matchup, scoring timely goals and playing great on both sides of the field.

The final score: Johnson 3, Point Pleasant Boro 0.

Johnson sophomore Alyssa Colicchio scored her fourth goal of the year at 9:02 of the first half, giving the Crusaders a 1-0 lead that they would hold on to for the rest of the game. The score remained the same at halftime.
