Joe DiProfio Scores 32 Points as ALJ Boys Varsity Basketball Downs Bordentown HS, Advance to NJSIAA Central, Group 2 State Sectional Final

UPDATED, BORDENTOWN, NJ –  For the first time in program history, the No. 3 seeded Arthur L. Johnson High School Crusaders boys varsity basketball team will play in the NJSIAA Central, Group 2 State Sectional Final. They punched their ticket following an 80-68 win over the No. 2 seeded Bordentown High School Scotties Friday night in Bordentown.

“It’s kind of unrealistic,” ALJ senior Ray Williamson said of the win over last year’s NJSIAA Central, Group 2 state champions. “We knew from the start that it was going to be a hard game. We just matched it and we just kept it going throughout the whole game, it’s awesome.”

“We’re playing great,” senior Brendan Stanzione said. “We’re putting so much into practices and it’s fun to see how it’s all going on right now.”

The storyline for the Crusaders was their three-point shooting. They connected on 11 three-point baskets to stun the higher-seed Scotties and continuously build on their lead. The Crusaders were led by junior Joe DiProfio, who scored a game-high 32 points, including six three-point baskets.
