CLARK, NJ- The Arthur L. Johnson High School Crusaders varsity field hockey team took to the field Wednesday night to battle the Cranford High School Cougars, looking to add to their early impressive start to the season. Prior to the contest, the Crusaders honored their senior players with a Senior Night ceremony on the field.
Co-captains Alyssa Colicchio, Kaylee Parkhill and Amanda Zambrana, along with Ally Renda, Victoria Marano, Sabrina Diwane and Nina Couzzi were all honored during the pregame ceremony.
The group of seniors earned the praise of their head coach for their hard work and dedication to the program for their entire field hockey careers.
“I love this group. They’re great girls, they all bring something different for my team,” Johnson head coach Katrina Poskay said. “Some of them are superstars on the field, some of them are the backbone in terms of our spirit, our emotions and our mentalities. I’ll take girls who dedicate four years of their life to a sport that’s not easy to play.”
The one common theme the girls have found in the field hockey program was, in addition to the game itself, the friendships formed with others as the years have gone by.
