With Seconds Left, ALJ Crusader Football Beats Rahway Indians in Thanksgiving Day Showdown

RAHWAY, NJ – Arthur L. Johnson High School sophomore Brandon Rapp got in the mix of a dominating defensive effort by his team throughout the annual Thanksgiving rivalry game against Rahway, and he came up big for the Crusaders.

Rapp intercepted a pass at the goal line with 58 seconds left, securing the victory for the Crusaders Thursday morning at Veterans Field in Rahway. The final score was 21-17.

Rapp said he just took one quick glance towards the sidelines, and knew he had to fall down once he secured the catch.

“I honestly don’t remember it that well,” Rapp said. “I kind of just caught it, and I immediately looked at Coach DelConte, [and] saw him tell me to go down, and I immediately went down. I looked up, and saw everyone crowding me and screaming.”
