Larissa Vena’s Late Goal Lifts ALJ Crusaders Field Hockey Over Millburn Millers

CLARK, NJ – Arthur L. Johnson High School senior and co-captain Larissa Vena scored with 13.1 seconds left in the second half to lift the Crusaders over the Millburn High School Millers 1-0 Tuesday afternoon in Clark. The goal was the result of a corner set-up by the Crusaders.

The players were gathered in the area of the net, and Vena banked home the loose ball for her eighth goal of the season to secure a critical win in a game between conference opponents.

“Honestly, I wasn’t even thinking [at the moment],” Vena said. “I just wanted this so much and it was our time and I had to finish [the scoring chance].”

ALJ freshman Emma Hilton recorded the assist on Vena’s game-winning goal, coming at 29:46 of the second half.
