CLARK, NJ- Arthur L. Johnson High School freshman Bailey Rosemeier came in in the clutch, as the No. 3 seeded Crusaders defeated the No. 6 seeded Rockets, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon in Clark.
Rosenmeier cracked in the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the 6-7-8 spot of the Johnson lineup helped to set up the win.
In the bottom of the inning, with the score tied 1-1, Johnson freshman Victoria Zatko walked and went to second base on a bunt from sophomore Mackenzie Purcell, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position.
The strategy paid off. Rosenmeier connected for the run-scoring hit to give her team the lead.
“Just like the whole game today, the play that I was involved in was a team effort,” Rosenmeier said. “Victoria did a great job getting on base, and Mackenzie laid down the perfect bunt to move her into scoring position. I was happy I could get enough on the ball to get it through, and Victoria’s great base running took care of the rest.”
