UNION, NJ – The Arthur L. Johnson High School Crusaders varsity softball team are the 2016 Union County Tournament champions.
The No. 1 Crusaders dethroned defending UCT champions, the No. 2 Governor Livingston Highlanders, Saturday afternoon at Kean University in a shut-out, 7-0.
It was the ALJ softball program’s first UCT championship since 1981.
“It feels amazing,” ALJ senior Stephanie Visconti said. “I can finally breathe. We were all so nervous, but we really just came out and played our game. I think that’s the reason we won, and I couldn’t be happier right now.”
