HILLSBOROUGH- No. 7 Hillsborough came into Saturday afternoon’s sectional championship, looking to show once again how dominant they are as a unit with the depth they’ve had all season long and they came away with the win, edging South Brunswick by a little more than four points.
Junior Samantha Ringel captured sectional championship for the all-around, parallel bars and the floor exercise events and was one of three players from the meet who qualified for the state team final to take place at Montgomery High School (Skillman, New Jersey) on Thursday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m. and the state individual final will take place at the same school on Saturday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m.
The team winners of all five sectionals automatically advance, as do the non-winning teams with the five highest scores out of all meets combined. The top five in each event and all-around advance to state individuals next Saturday at Montgomery. All gymnasts with a score of 36 or higher in all-around also advance.
