FRENCHTOWN, NJ- It was one calendar year ago when Arthur L. Johnson High School senior George Visconti recorded his 1,416th career point, breaking the record and becoming the all-time leading scorer for Johnson Crusaders basketball. On Monday night in Frenchtown, he added to his growing resume of accomplishments by making it to his 2000th point.
Visconti reached his 2,000th career point (96th career game) milestone in the Crusaders’ 61-50 win over the Delaware Valley High School Terriers. He achieved it by landing a shot from the lane after dribbling in and putting the ball up with 5:22 left in the third quarter.
The team instantly called a timeout and his teammates and coaches celebrated with him. After the game, he was presented with a plaque and basketball commemorating his accomplishment.
“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s a pretty rare, individual accomplishment,” Visconti said. “I feel blessed to have achieved my goal.”
He finished the evening with 26 points altogether, along with 11 assists and six rebounds. He scored 16 points alone in the first half.
