BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ- The Governor Livingston Highlanders battled hard in the opening minutes of their second home game of the season and hung on through the first few minutes of the second quarter. However, as the afternoon went along, they couldn’t match the performance on both sides of the ball, losing to the Oak Knoll Royals by a final score of 48-22 Tuesday afternoon in Berkeley Heights.
The Highlanders only trailed the Royals by a score of 7-5 in the closing minutes of the first quarter, but as the second quarter began, the Royals started to lock on defense and turn their pressure into points as the game went along.
The Royals went on a 7-0 scoring run over a two-and-a-half-minute span to build their lead up to 20-9 and led the Highlanders by a score of 22-11 at halftime.
